shake it off

emily (the rose white kind) is looking at pictures of us on her digital camera. she's sitting right next to me. what does it mean? what do snapshots of the past moments mean to her now? i'm still here, but she's dwelling in the past--because of aesthetics, partially (as in, "i like this picture a lot?"), and because of some kinda nostalgia-prepping for the future missing-memories. that is to say that she's going to miss my material presence in the city and she's going to look at pictures to remember. and admire. and show off to her friends and family. because that's what you do with pictures of friends...

i secretly want to print off a lot of them. i find the digital ephemerality a little upsetting, i want paper copies to store in boxes and keep with me as i move around. because i'm going to move around a lot, or so i imagine (often).

well since it's sunny i think we need to leave the house before i leave the city later today. time present and time past... or some t.s. eliot mumbling like that.
